Kevin Michael Reed is a theatre director and theatre maker with production credits in several areas of theatre production, including producer, director, playwright, dramaturg and Lighting & AV designer. A performer into early adulthood, for 15 years, he ran an award-winning fashion photography studio in New York City’s garment district before returning to theatre. He is Artistic Director of Squire Lane Theatrical UK, a theatre production company specialising in developing new works for the stage. During the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown, Kevin founded TheatreMaker.ie, which produces a weekly news programme focusing on Irish and International Theatre News and discussion; He is the producer and technical director of the organisation’s shows.
Kevin holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the Fashion Institute of Technology (SUNY), a Master of Arts in Playwriting from City, University of London, and a MFA in Theatre Directing from The Lir, National Academy of Dramatic Art at Trinity College Dublin.
Recent directing credits include X by Alistair McDowall (The Lir), Shadows by Carguil L.G. Webley (Squire Lane Theatrical / Theatro Technis), and Version 2.0 by Kashyap Raja (Squire Lane Theatrical / Leicester Square Theatre).
Recent collaborators, in various roles, include: The Lir (“Blood Wedding”), Equinox Theatre Company (“We All Come From Somewhere”), Corn Exchange / Dublin Fringe Festival (“Bodies of Water”), Pan Pan Platform / AOB Arts Management (“Symphony of Worms”), Asylum Productions / Abbey Theatre (“The Big Chapel X”), Gerrard Martin Dance Company / AndWhat Queer Arts Festival / DMU Pride Festival (“B”), and Tenth Muse Productions / Omnibus Theatre London (“Beauty & The Beast, a new adaptation”).
He produced the critically-acclaimed productions of Reese Thompson’s WHORE: A Kid’s Play and JOY DONZE: 13 & Not Pregnant at the 2017 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
