I had to pray today. I asked the big guy to help our nation make a sane decision; a decision that will keep us together and moving forward; a decision that doesn’t set us back to the 1800’s. Though my vote is already in, in a couple hours the rest of the US will begin to vote. It really is a scary day for our democracy that was founded to accept all; a little experiment in hope, freedom, diversity, liberty and justice. It’s taken a long time to get to where we are. We’re not a perfect nation, but one that has taken one step at a time to become great. I hope today is not the day that the experiment fails.
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”
